01 — Introduction

A quiet, senior team building the systems your company will still depend on in a decade.

We work with product companies, operators, and internal engineering leaders who need serious software built well. Not a fashionable prototype, not a rebrand of an off-the-shelf template — the real thing, running in production, understood by the people who own it.

Our practice combines product design, backend architecture, application development, and platform engineering under one small team. Every engagement is led by a senior engineer who owns the outcome from first conversation to steady-state operation.

03 — Technology expertise

Depth over surface area.

We stay disciplined about the technologies we use in production so that every project benefits from real operational experience — not from a demo we watched last week. The result is fewer surprises, faster incident response, and systems that other engineers can maintain.

04 — Challenges we solve

Where teams call us in.

The engagements we take on rarely start with a pure feature request. They start with a business problem that has an engineering answer buried in it. Our job is to find and build that answer.

Legacy systems slowing down the business

Software that used to work is now the bottleneck. We modernize incrementally, without stopping the business, and hand back a maintainable codebase.

A new product that needs to be right the first time

You have one shot to launch credibly. We help scope, design, and engineer the first version so that it can grow instead of being rewritten in year two.

Manual processes eating internal capacity

Repetitive work between systems and spreadsheets becomes proper automation — auditable, monitored, and owned by your team.

Cloud costs and infrastructure sprawl

We rationalize the architecture, remove accidental complexity, and put in the observability needed to see where the money goes.

Data trapped in silos

Warehouses, pipelines, and internal tooling that make data usable — for reporting, for operations, and for the product itself.

Security concerns that finally need a response

A pragmatic review, remediation of the highest-impact issues, and ongoing controls the team can actually live with.

05 — How we work

A process built around clarity.

We keep our process transparent because software engineering is a decision-heavy discipline — and every decision has a cost. Documenting the reasoning is as important as writing the code.

  1. 01

    Discovery

Map the domain, constraints, and success criteria with the people closest to the problem.

  2. 02

    Architecture

Define the shape of the system: data model, boundaries, integrations, non-functional targets.

  3. 03

    Iteration

Short delivery cycles with working software, honest demos, and a written trail of decisions.

  4. 04

    Hardening

Observability, security review, performance work, and the boring things launches usually skip.

  5. 05

    Operation

Steady-state ownership — incident response, iteration on real usage, and knowledge transfer.

06 — Industries

Sectors we understand.

  • Financial services
  • Insurance
  • Logistics
  • SaaS platforms
  • Healthcare
  • Manufacturing
  • Retail & commerce
  • Media
  • Real estate
  • Professional services
  • Public sector
  • Education
  • Industrial IoT

What these sectors share is the need for software that is correct under pressure — where downtime, data errors, and unclear ownership have direct operational consequences. Our engineering habits are shaped by that context.

07 — Why WIND AND SOLAR

A small team that answers for the software it ships.

Senior throughout

There is no junior team behind a senior name. The people who talk to you are the people who build.

Written down

Decisions, trade-offs, and rejected options are documented. Nothing important lives only in someone's head.

Own the outcome

We treat production incidents, edge cases, and cleanup as part of the work, not a separate contract.

Boring where it matters

We use proven tools for infrastructure and data. Novelty is for user-facing surface, not for the plumbing.

09 — Quality & security

Correct under pressure.

Quality is not a phase at the end of the project. It is the way the team writes code, reviews changes, ships to production, and responds when something goes wrong. Every engagement runs on the same practices we would apply to our own critical systems.

  • Continuous review of every change, by a second engineer.
  • Automated tests at the boundaries that matter — units, integration, and end-to-end.
  • Threat modeling for anything touching identity, payments, or sensitive data.
  • Least-privilege access, encrypted storage and transport, monitored egress.
  • Observability so incidents are diagnosable within minutes, not days.

10 — Collaboration

How we work with your team.

We work as a small, senior extension of your team. Clear roles, direct communication with the engineers writing the code, and a stable technical lead throughout the engagement.

Progress is visible every week — working software, a short written update, and time held for unblocking decisions. There are no gated deliverables, and no ceremonies for their own sake.

We are careful about scope. When something outside the current cycle needs to change, we say so and explain the trade-off, rather than absorbing it silently.

Handover is continuous. Documentation, credentials, and infrastructure ownership move as we go, so nothing depends on us being around forever.

11 — FAQ

Common questions.

  • We take on multi-month engagements where software is central to how the business operates — new products, platform modernization, internal systems, and long-lived integrations. We prefer working end-to-end, from discovery through production support.

12 — In summary

WIND AND SOLAR is a small, senior IT company that builds custom software, cloud platforms, mobile apps, and secure digital products for organizations that treat technology as core infrastructure — engineered with care, documented as we go, and handed over as ours to keep.
